I survived the weekend! It was busy at times, and other times, I had time to just be lazy. . . though that, I’m sure, wasn’t the best entertainment for our guest, my MIL.
We had a great Thanksgiving. We decided to start yet another family tradition- desserts for lunch! We dug into the pies for lunch before we ate our Thanksgiving meal. We love our desserts you know. The chocolate pie was still warm and oh so good! I ate too much of it but I sure did enjoy it. We actually finished that first chocolate pie, along with portions of coconut and pumpkin at lunch. I especially loved that I could eat our Thanksgiving dinner without worrying about leaving room for dessert.
One of the things we did that I truly enjoyed. . . . Last spring when my cousin was in town, she, my uncle, and my mom, stayed up telling family stories I’d never heard before. My brother and I held the camcorder to record it. Well, my brother started and couldn’t last so he handed me his camcorder. You should have seen me trying to stay awake to at least hold the camera. Well, after we ate our Thanksgiving meal, we, my brother and I, burned it to a DVD and put it on the TV for all to watch. It was really good to hear the stories. . . and get a few more details as my mom and uncle watched it. (And, it was really funny because they would add to the story . . . and a few seconds later they said the same thing on the DVD). I want to do more of that. There’s been many a time when family stories have been shared where you just live in the moment and wish there was some way to capture it.
Beyond that, this weekend I really enjoyed good food and cooking. Beyond Thanksgiving (where I pretty much only made the chocolate pies), we had biscuits and maple pan sausage, orange chicken and wild rice, cheeseburger soup, and a pot roast. And, I have leftovers of all of them to enjoy this week!
