Moments Captured and Remembered

Simple Holiday Season Shopping

Wow! This year’s holiday season shopping has been pretty easy. I say holiday season because all three of our parent’s birthdays happen to fall from the middle of Nov to almost Christmas. My grandmother’s birthday was New Year’s eve. So, shopping for this time of the year gets really crazy- Birthdays and Christmas.

We got my MIL’s, wolf art coasters, gift months in advance- saw it and knew it would make a good gift. My mother’s gift, a roaster, well I knew that was what I was going to get her and had priced it at Wal-mart. So I knew just where to pick it up, etc. Got it in advance too! Dad’s gift, his birthday’s not the 20th so I won’t reveal it, we picked up last month. So, birthdays are out of the way.

At work, well I won’t be having a gift exchange which is good since I’ve never met most of my co-workers. For DH’s they do a “white elephant” gift exchange. . . sorta white elephant they set rules about the gift. Anyways, we’re going to use . . . .hmmm. . . . dare I mention it. . . . oh why not- everyone will know it was from us. We’re going to use one of our church cookbooks. I’m curious how many times it will be passed.

For Christmas, well, we’re doing an exchange and this year MIL’s participating. This year we vowed not to tell who all we had. So, I won’t tell you who I bought my gift for. . . I haven’t even told DH though I know who he drew. . . I had to help him order the gift LOL. So that’s just two gifts. Thankfully, I found the gift I wanted to get on sale so it was truly within our $20-25 range.

Then, DH and I, well, we’re broke. I did order him a couple of stocking stuffers though one’s on back-order. I shipped them to my mom. So glad she’s close- I won’t have to worry about DH reading where the package is from or opening it early. We think we’re just going to get us a gift together. Thinking about re-doing our closet for our Christmas present. It won’t really cost much to rip out the existing shelfs and rods. It won’t cost much to replace them either. And oh how we could use the additional space by making a double rod (upper/lower rods). It would be a gift that keeps on giving. I might even iron then. As it is now, it doesn’t do me any good because it’ll wrinkle in the closet.

So, this year, I’m enjoying the simplicity of it all!!!! Next year, who knows. . . . several kids may be anxiously awaiting Santa’s arrival.
