So, if you know the men in my husband’s family (his father, his brother, himself), you know that spelling is not a strong suit. You can often add grammer to that in the case of my DH. It’s always been that way and I learned long ago that attempts to make corrections are futile. Part of it is that my husband is dyslexic. So, when it comes to writing, his just not wired right.
(Dyslexia has had some advantages for him. As a child he would color the right side of the page with his right hand and the left side with his left hand. He has the advantage of being able to use both hands for a number of things.)
DH and I don’t email each other that often, but when we do, it’s an opportunity for me to get a good laugh.
One day, we were discussing plans to get his allergy shot and he emailed me that he was going to get his “shoot on”. . . . That one took me a while to figure out what he was talking about as we were in the thick of hunting season. “Shoot on” is now still a part of vocabulary today.
Today. . . Well, the backstory, DH is also not the best with computers though his skills have increased tremendously. Last night, we were working on some reports for the deer lease in Excel. He really amazed me, I gave him a start and he didn’t bug me every few minutes. In fact, he was able to figure most of it out on his own and continued working on his spreadsheets well after I went to bed.
So today, he emails me about a meeting I have this week and where it was going to be. I was pretty sure I’d had the same discussion with him in person yesterday. But, I just replied back with what he needed. In his reply back, he apologized as my response jogged his memory of our conversation yesterday.
His excuse, “Excell brain bamage”.
I started laughing. . . Reading his emails to me in public places can be hazardous to my reputation, but I don’t think anyone heard me this time. I couldn’t help but fire an email back to enjoy his little typos.
I replied back that it was no big deal but that because I thought I remembered the conversation, he made me wonder if I had “Excell brain bamage”.
And our vocabulary grows. . .
